Caffelletto High Quality Bed and Breakfast in Italy
Published in Paperback by Le Lettere (October, 1999)
Authors: Michael Ballarati, Margherita Piccolomini, Anne Marshall, and Michael B. Ballard
Average review score:

Wonderful places to stay.
I used a copy of this book to find accomodation during a 3 week holiday in Italy. I can recommend it if you are looking for something a little off the beaten track at a reasonable price. Most areas have many entries and in September it was easy to find a place to stay even in Rome and Florence. Take a mobile phone and you can arrange your stay while traveling on the Italian railways.

Canberra: In the Wake of a Legend
Published in Hardcover by Brasseys, Inc. (June, 1997)
Authors: Philip Dawson and N. Marshall
Average review score:

Worthy tribute to Britain's favourite cruise ship
Written to coincide with the last cruise of P&O Cruises' s.s. Canberra, In the Wake of a Legend tells the full story of this splendid vessel with an emphasis on her unique design when completed in 1961. The photographs are generally excellent and many taken by the author himself. Easy to read and attractively presented, the book's lasting memory is the affection the author, like so many thousands of past passngers, felt for the now scrapped Canberra.

Caribou Lake: Reflections of My Father

Average review score:

Wonderful Adventure!
Mr. Jones' story is very honest, interesting and full of adventure. His life has been very tumultuous, yet full of life and love. He gives us an insight to animals that most of us will never be able to experience. Thank you, Marshall, for sharing your life with us!

Challenge of a Liberal Faith
Published in Paperback by Unitarian Universalist Assn (March, 1988)
Author: George N. Marshall
Average review score:

A great introduction to Unitarianism-Universalism.
This book provides lots of interesting information for those interested in exploring the historical antecedents of the U-U church (as far back as 200-300 a.d., but mainly dating back to 16th century Europe). It also contains a relatively brief, but thoughtful, summation of U-U beliefs. This interesting faith, whose influence on American society has been far greater than its numbers would suggest, is worth exploring for anyone who is more of a spiritual seeker than a religious dogmatist. They believe in providing a welcoming space in which anyone can explore his or her personal religious/spirtual path. I wish this book were more easily available; I just happened to find an old copy in a used book store.

Christy Series #3: The Angry Intruder
Published in Hardcover by Thomas Nelson (26 September, 1995)
Authors: C. Archer and Catherine Marshall
Average review score:

Christy and the Angry Intruder Review
This book was very good. It read fast and had an interesting plot. There were exciting events that happened and a young person would really enjoy it. The way Christy handles the boy that had been vandalizing the school and terrorizing her was good. It will teach a lot of kids not to retaliate against someone that has hurt you.
I would recommend this book for any kid between the age of 8 and 13. It reads well and has very good lessons cleverly slipped in.

Cobol: A Pragmatic Approach
Published in Paperback by Prentice Hall College Div (January, 1978)
Authors: Robert T. Grauer and Marshall A. Crawford
Average review score:

A near-excellent introductory COBOL slef-study book
I first encountered this book in the fall of 1978 (that was 24 years ago) and I read the book from cover to cover and was very impressed by the way the authors demonstarted how COBOL programming was all about. At that time, there were many other COBOL books around but very few could teach COBOL in such a neat and precise way. Two years later, the concept of Structured Programming began popular and made this book sound out-of-date. But compared to other new books, this book was still outstanding in terms of learning how to do COBOL programming. Ten years later, OOP (Object Oriented Programming) further replaced Structured Programming as the mainstream of programming methodolody. But, again this book is still worthwhile reading for the purpose of grasping COBOL basic concepts after 24 years.

The Complete Adoption Handbook
Published in Paperback by Zondervan (October, 1992)
Authors: Kay Marshall Strom, Deborah Shaw Lewis, Gregg Lewis, and Douglas R. Donnelly
Average review score:

Adoption from a Christain's View Point
At first glance, Kay Strom seemed to have written just another common place book on the adoption process. But upon further reading, I was very impressed by the thought provoking manner in which she encourages each individual considering or going through the adoption process to seek the Lord's guidance for each step taken. She does not "sugar coat" adoption like it's the TV sitcom "THE BRADY BUNCH," but weaves in accounts of actual families as they made their way through adoption. Though not a technical reference book like THE ADOPTION RESOURCE BOOK by Lois Gilman (by the way, is an invaluable adoption tool), Kay Strom makes you stop and evaluate your motivations before you jump into adoption. I highly recommend this book to any Christain since she does not "push" any particular "religious affiliation" when she encourages one to seek the Lord for His guidance.

Complete E.C. Segar Popeye
Published in Paperback by Fantagraphics Books (July, 1990)
Authors: E.C. Segar and Richard Marshall
Average review score:

Sadly,Segar's final story was unfinished
This final volume in the wonderful Popeye series concludes unsatisfactrily.the stories that segar wrote in 1937 & 1938 are top-notch(A Sock for Susan's Sake is very good,Wild Oats is a scream, Valley of the Goons is delightful)but his unfortunate end from cancer in 1938 prevented him from truly concluding the story of King Swee'Pea- which Tom Sims & Doc Winner brought to a less-than -satisfacory conclusion.Recommedned to all Popeye fans and Segar completists because Segar was reaching his peak as a storyteller at this time. As Mort Walker said,"Maybe he wouldn't have been able to maintain quality during the 40s and 50s-but I sure would've liked to see him try."

Blow me Down!
This series is excellent as a whole for showing the world what Popeye was like during his comic strip heydey.Segar was a creative genius whose imagination took Popeye,Olive Oyl,Wimpy,Sweepea and the others on exciting adventures. There were a few of these Sunday pages on which 1960s-TV Popeye cartoons were based.
